A Guide to Fortuna, Murcia

Step back from the coast, let Fortuna's hot springs soothe your soul, and sink into a traditional Spanish life in the mountains of Murcia.

Fortuna offers a slice of heaven with a serious slice of history and outdoor enjoyment. It's a traditional city in the mountains of northwest Murcia, well away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the coast. Its streets and squares are atmospheric places to while away the day with a coffee and book, while its heralded spa is a glorious time machine - you'll wonder where the time disappeared and you'll also feel a whole lot younger when you leave!

On the fringes of town are a group of important and intriguing archaeological sites, some that date back to the Bronze Age. Just a short walk from home and you'll be able to delve into the diggings, explore sacred caves and observe the ancient Roman inscriptions - talk about an open-air museum!

For those who really want to stretch their legs, two large nearby parks offer wildlife, walking and hiking in scenic surroundings. The Sierra de la Pila Regional Park has 50km of hiking trails alone.

Living in Fortuna gives you a true slice of rural Spanish life and yet, you're still only an hour or so drive from the coast. Though, we have a feeling if you're the Fortuna type, you'd sooner point your compass west and spend your weekends wine tasting in Jumilla and Yecla.

If this is the type of life you'd like, or if you rightly realised Fortuna is ripe for an investment opportunity, peruse our featured properties in Fortuna.
